Installed at a busy thoroughfare in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, Predator-Pray counterposes an image of an MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) also known as a “Predator” with an image of hands clasped together in prayer. In doing so Predator-Pray riffs both on the play of words as well as questions the relationship between religion and the military industrial complex.
Sethi appropriated the images used in Predator-Pray from the United States Airforce UAV program and a national Baptist church group, and re-presented them as large output digital prints installed behind the glass windows of a local building.
